A Tassel from The Nester Finds a Home

The Nester is having a Lampapalooza Party today, so I thought I would show you what I did with that fabulous tassel that I bought from her awhile back:

Here's my lonely floor lamp before:

And here is my floor lamp after it met its new tassel buddy:

I think they like each other! Make sure to stop by The Nesting Place to see more lamp fun!

XL Twin Sheets for Dorms on Sale at Tuesday Morning

A decorating friend of mine (who's kitchen just happened to be featured in Better Homes and Garden, Kitchen and Baths Spring 1995 edition)...told me that they have the XL Twin sheets on sale at Tuesday Morning for $16.99! That's a great deal, so if you know any college-bound grads, you might want to let them know or better yet, go pick up a set for them.

Here are some pics of my friend's kitchen from the magazine, enjoy:

To think, she designed this kitchen in 1995 and it still looks beautiful today! That is the sign of a great designer. I could definitely see myself sitting at this table and enjoying a meal with good friends. Bravo, bravo, Kathy!!!

I Love Behr Paint

What can I say? I'm not Haute Couture when it comes to paint. I don't even know what Haute Couture means or if I even spelled it right for that matter ;)

Behr paint comes in fantastic colors, applies nicely to walls and best of all, it's very affordable! What more could a gal ask for? Well, maybe for her husband to actually handle the 'painting' part of things...which he does, so I'm batting 1,000 or 100 or whatever is good in baseball!

Here is our Living Room, painted in Expedition Khaki:

It used to be painted in Outback, which I also loved:

Our Foyer is still decked out in Outback:

Our kitchen, in Harvest Brown (we could use better lighting in our kitchen, but my husband is an electrician, so fat chance of that happening, ha!) :

Sweet Georgia Brown (love that paint color name!) in my older son's room:

And, of course, our bedroom, painted in Spa:

See, you don't need to spend $50 for a gallon of paint, give Behr a try! It's available at The Home Depot and they even have sales from time to time, usually on the 3 day weekends, like Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.

What is your favorite paint color (any brand)?

Good morning!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I had a really nice Mother's Day weekend with Velo and my boys. Here is my youngest son at the Mother's Day Tea on Friday, he is walking into the room with his classmates, holding his flower he planted for me, so cute:

They also sang a song to us and used Sign Language, too, so cool!

And now on to our lucky winner announcement! I love having quickie little giveaways, because there are generally less entries and a better chance to win, whoo-hoo! And the winner of the "Seven Pounds" DVD is.....

Carla from Tales of the T's blog!

Congratulations, Carla! I will be contacting you soon!

Thanks everyone for entering and I hope that if you didn't win, you will still see this movie, it will really move you!

I hope you all have a great week!

Mother's Day Giveaway: "Seven Pounds" DVD

The other day I had asked on facebook if people *REALLY* text message while driving (I can't imagine people doing this, but apparently some do, sigh...) And one of my friends recommended that I see, "Seven Pounds" with Will Smith. I wasn't sure why, but I figured it must have something to do with texting while driving...

This movie really moved me and I am so glad that I watched it. It really gives you something to think about and reflect upon...I will warn you though, you will definitely need a box of tissue handy when you watch it. But I have never seen a movie that really affected me as much as this one. I highly recommend it to all of you.

And since I loved it so much, I want to share a copy of it with one lucky person, so please, just leave me a comment here and you will be entered to win. I will pick a winner bright and early on Monday morning.

Good Luck!

(And Happy Mother's Day to all of the great mommies out there, too!)

Reminder: Today is Stamp Out Hunger Day

If you are able, please leave a bag of canned or boxed food goods out for your Mail Carrier today. What a great program this is!

Happy Saturday!
