My Spanish Painted Brick House - Virtual After Pictures

As you all know, I want to paint my brick house. But it is a scary project to take on, once that paint is on, there's no turning back! So, although I imagined what it would look like, I really knew I would not know for sure, until the paint was on the house.

Imagine my SURPRISE, when I opened up an email yesterday from one of my lovely readers, Ali Mae! She virtually painted my house and sent me the pictures! I actually squealed in delight when I opened up her email and I was clapping my hands...and looking like I had just lost it ;) My husband was like, "What???" And then when I showed him, he was pretty happy as well (see, HE is the one PAINTING and he was still kind of hesitant about it)...until he saw Ali Mae's beautiful pictures, here take a look:

Spanish Brick Home Before:

Here, she virtually painted the house and shutters, in beige and tan, love it:

In this photo, she has added a trellis, for added interest and to 'balance out' the house, I love this, too:

Here, Ali Mae has added flower boxes to the upper windows, so pretty! Notice, too how she painted the porch a soft yellow, to make the arches stand out more - so smart!

And look, here she has even added CURTAINS to the arches on my front porch, like I had been talking about in my last post:

I think it looks like a beautiful villa, I am now even more excited to get going on this project. Thanks so much, Ali Mae, you are the best!!!

How can I do that to my house? We put a new porch on last year and now we'd like to relandscape that area.

siteseer, do you mean how can you get a virtual makeover?

Wow! that is so cool. What a great way to check things out before going to all the expense and then finding out you might not like it after all. I love the look. Are you going to do it?

Oh that is amazing!!! I love it. Now... what did she use and how can I do a virtual makeover on my own house? There is so much to do and I'm not even sure how to start!!!

Wow! That is so amazing of Ali Mae! And it is wonderful... I like the fact that after your husband paints it, you will still be able to see the brick. Isn't virtual design incredible! :) I'm proud of you and thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog. Yes, we do have wonderful weather in CA. Actually, the day AFTER the ladies car wash it rained and stormed for a few days; but really, the weather here is perfect. Well, I don't know if I'd say that in the summer time when it's 110 degrees, but, that's the beauty of CA - you can drive to the mountains or the ocean in just a couple of hours. Nice to virtually meet you. :)

Oh My Good Golly! What a beautiful home!!! Bella, this is lovely. I agree with the addition of the planter boxes on the second story windows..you could even make those brick. I would hang the curtains on the inside of the arches and then I would never leave that porch! Don't you just love a project that you know from the get~go is going to be wonderful?! Looks like you have a jim~dandy fun project in your near future. I love your house.

Its just Like I pictured!
Just be careful with installing boxes on the second floor, unless your windows open to water... I have a client who has these, and everything always dies because its so hard to maintain...
I love the trellis, great idea!

After seeing the virtual picture I am afraid I would have to disagree with the painting! Sorry!

The curtains (which is still a great idea!) and arches detail just blend in way too much now.

I would say you can still have enough of a change with the other details, with out going to that extreme of a wash out.

Just my professional opinion, ..
....I do like the idea of a light color inside the porch
How fun is that!
Every one has different likes so ...
good luck.. Just remember to Have fun!

Here in the south painted brick is very popular...even on new construction homes! I did post back in the fall about the popularity of painted brick in the Memphis area. It is a great look and your virtual pictures confirm that!

Bella,I was trying to sit down a minute & look at your house, but I see that she already did a fantastic makeover for you...so you don't need me! What a great look that is. I hope you'll go for it. Painting brick is a great way to update & she gave you all sorts of options that are beautiful.
