What More Do We Really Need?

"I had everything, I just didn't know it."

My mom, August, 2004, a few days after my 25 year old brother with autism, was struck and killed by a car.

I always try to remember this when I am feeling down about something, it kind of puts it all into perspective, don't you think?

Oh Bella, Thank you for sharing something so deep and so true with us. We don't know what tomorrow will bring, so we'd better make the most of today and tell those we love how much they mean to us on a regular basis. Things can change in a moment!

Hello Bella. So, so sorry about your brother. How is your mother doing now? We lost my Dad in a horrible accident. Here one moment, gone the next. It's been 14
years now and the pain is still there. Thanks for reminding me to be grateful for my family and that we are all together. You never know what tomorrow brings...:) ~ Laurie

Great reminder to us all! One thing I do when I need to put things in perspective is read this blog: http://www.mattlogelin.com/ It's a tragic story about a man who lost his wife during childbirth. It talks of his struggles with a baby, etc. It's absolutely beautiful writing and photos. Makes me thank my lucky stars!

Bella,

It just goes to show that no matter how down you get and how bad things can happen, someone else is always worse off.

Oh, wow, this just stopped me in my tracks this morning. What an important lesson for all of us to remember, and how sad that so many of our biggest life-lessons have to come from tragedies like this.
