Duct Tape: Not Just For Men

OK...so you all have seen our bedroom:

Looks nice enough, but what's lurking under all of that fluffy bedding?

This!!! Ripped Sheets!!!

Eek! Oh, the horror!!!

So, what was my brilliant decorating on a budget idea?

Yep, Duct Tape! When I asked Mr. Casa where it was, he wanted to know why...when I told him, he just started laughing.

Even the cat is disgusted...

But what's a gal to do in this flippin' economy? I only like those nice, soft sheets from Bed, Bath & Beyond...and they're just not in the ole Casa budget right now, so duct tape it is! ;)

I know, it's so (fill in the blank)...

(shakes head in shame)

ttfn,
Bella & her duct tape
PS: Only a couple more days til I draw the winner of the Wedding Photo Frame and make sure to stop back tomorrow for Bloggy Carnival, I'll have a brand new giveaway to announce!

Ummmmmm....did a patch not cross your mind. It isn't the tacky that concerns me. It is the "crispy" factor.

I remember the old days. Patch it. Even use decorator fabric to coordinate with the theme of the room. Make it a surprise effect.

Ask around, if you don't have a sewing machine someone will.

We are the frugal crowd. We do what we do better than anyone. Also, keep eyes peeled at Target. I got queen sheets for $5!!! Yes that was FIVE dollars for a set with the pillow cases!

I can relate! Haven't had to resort to duct tape (yet) but we do have one set of sheets. Why do things have to be so pricey!?!

Have a nice night!

You guys must not know the one thing I told my husband I would never do...before we got married...iron!!! We don't even own one, lol. So, no, a patch never came to mind...unless I can duct tape it on ;)

I will be scanning the fatwallet forums for a sheet deal...the clearance racks at BB&B, too..I only need a fitted sheet, so maybe I will just spring for one.

It's sort of in the middle, at the end of the bed...so not a big deal...yet;) Just tacky, literally, tacky ;)

Bella, you funny girl. Now you are really going to sleep on these duct tapped sheets? I guess it would work if the rips were at the bottom of the bed. But I would like to lay my gorgeousness upon the cold, maybe scratchy edges. How about an iron on patch!! Just trying to help;)
Be a sweetie,
shelia :)

Only a blogger would admit to duct taping their sheets! You won't see that post on RMS lol

Hmmm, duct tape??? Why didn't you mend them, on the reverse side of course, then you can wash them & they won't be scratchy or sticky...

Years ago, I had a puppy who decided to chew her tennis ball out from under a new sheet. It was almost a perfect hole & the flap was only attached by a small bit of fabric. I couldn't replace the sheet & really liked the set. So I mended it. It wasn't perfert but no one saw it buy us. I used that set of sheets for years too. :0} Diane

That is so funny!! Try Linens n Things maybe -- they are closing, so maybe you can get a deal!! Good luck, I would rather send you a new sheet than let you sleep on that!! :) HA!! You're going to get about 15 sheets in the mail now!! :)

Hi Bella,
I love duct tape, but I don't think I could sleep on it, kinda a princess and the pea thing! I always have top sheets left from when the fitted sheet has worn through first. I would probably use one of those over the mattress or something.
Blessings,
Lorilee

Too funny! I thought I'd duct taped everything duct tape-able...but I've never done my sheets before!

That's too funny!

I have duct tape inside my fridge! LOL a shelf on the door broke off on one end - I put it back up with duct tape a few years ago and it's held ever since!

Although duct tape on the sheets sounds a little uncomfortable! LOL how about an iron patch?

I am picky about my sheets too so I understand.

Another thought is iron interfacing.
You could get a smidge of it at WalMart for less than a cup a coffee. Can you borrow a neighbors iron? :)

My favorite sheets have a rip in them... I am careful not to put the rip on my husband's side of the bed where his big ol hook toe nails could make it worse. ha ha Target has a LOT of sheets on clearance right now. I got a set for my daughter's bed for about $3.

Yup, duct tape can fix just about anything. That's so funny! Once my car mirror on the door busted and duct tape held it together for a long time!

Too funny! Can't wait to see how they hold up in the wash!

We all do what we have to do! I just saw your new post though and saw that you broke down and got new sheets! LOL! You made me laugh. Did you know that duct tape now comes in hot pink and other bright colors? My 15-year-old uses it now~!

This is so funny! I noticed on Saturday night that the clean sheets I just put on the bed, were worn thread bare and ripped and they are my favorite 350 tc sheets.

Guess they were washed too much.

I too will need new ones now!

But duct tape never crossed my mind, maybe I can salvage them.
But wait what happens when we wash them! Maybe a bluejean patch would work better.

We once duct taped the rabbit ears to the top of our new TV. If that isn't redneck I don't know what is.
On the sheets, just hand sew them. I have had to do this on several sets at our house.
