So, I put my thinking cap on and decided to look for boxes or things that could become boxes...here are my finds, I think you might be surprised:
Garage Sale, 50 cents:
Garage Sale, $2:
Can you believe that you can transform those country bumpkin wall hangings into boxes? Well, you can...and here's how...
With the 2nd box, I had to remove the wooden characters, they popped right off with a wallpaper scraper...now my 4 year old has new toys, too :)
Spray paint the box black (or any color that you'd like).
I added those stick on felt protectors on the bottom of the trays, after the paint was dry:
Then, if you want, add scrapbook paper to the bottom of the tray/box with spray adhesive. I did this to mine because the candy dishes did not cover the entire bottom, so I thought it would be a nice added touch.
Once the paper is glued in and dried, I then sprayed the entire box with a clear top coat. And then let that dry.
Next, I glued my candy dishes unto the box. I did this because my boxes were shallow and that is the only way they would stay put. The candy dishes are actually votive candle holders. You can purchase them at The Dollar Tree or Walmart:
Put something heavy on top and let it dry overnight:
I added some Fall garland, from The Dollar Tree and some yummy chocolates:
And here is the other one I made:
There were no dividers, so I had to improvise with ribbon:
I hope you liked my little projects...I sure did have fun making them and will continue to make these, I think they are so pretty and what a nice gift...thanks again, Joy for the inspiration!!!
A little note to my Blogging Friends....I have not been able to leave as many comments as I would like to because I am up to my neck in WALLPAPER! I went into my kitchen the other day and just started ripping it down...I'm impulsive like that, are you? I'm still here though and will be visiting all of you as soon as I can!
I have a question, too...how do I get a Horchow Catalog delivered to my house? I don't see any way to sign up for one on their site. How can I copy their ideas, if I don't get the catalog, lol ;)
ttfn, my blogging buddies :)

Bella,
I went to that site and there is a place called cataloge and quick subscriptions (click on that at the bottom)....but from them it is a subscription which costs $6.50 so not free.
Your candy dishes turned out GREAT!! You have definitely been the craft diva lately. LOVE them!
I can't wait to see what your area looks like when you rip down all of that wallpaper and re-do it. My hubby & I have been talking about painting our kitchen cabinets....we will see......
Bella, I love your candy trays. They are so clever and I know I'll be copying them. What a great idea.

Bella- Here's the link to order a Horchow catalog. They're $6.50, but that's for a year subscription. They also deduct that amount from your first order with them.

Oops! Just realized somebody already posted that! :-( Sorry!
What is this Horchow catalog we speak of? I've never heard of it! Rest assured I'll be checking THAT out!
Your candy dishes are TOO cute! I've seen those votives at the Dollar Tree. Walmart has some too. I'm eyeballing things around my house now... hmm...
Good luck with the wallpaper! Yes, I'm impulsive like that too. That is how I end up with horrendous mistreatments in my office I can't take down because I stripped a screw! Ruh roh raggy!
Great craft projects!
And thanks for the info about the napkin rings. I've been looking for them on ebay.
Dawn
Your candy trays turned out great! You are so creative! Just to figure out how to successfully copy all of these projects is impressive! Hope the wallpaper removal project is going well! That can be a bugger to do! I have an award for you when you get the time...come on over and pick it up! :) ~Rhonda
You did an amazing job on the candy trays! Those would make great gifts.
Take Care
Michelle
Hi Bella...hey, cute, cute ideas and cheap, too! I feel for you on that wallpaper job and yes, I'm just as impulsive...when I get a notion...LOL ;-) Bo
Those candy dishes are so cute! I remember the one done on Joys of Home. Thank you so much for your words on my bully blog, as much as it was awful to go through, I know it was even harder for my parents so I understand how you must have felt. Just heartbreaking! Remember, the 'normal' families have problems too! Have a good day! Wallpaper is no fun!
Laura :)
Hi Bella! Wow you went to work! I love what you did and I'm going to make one for myself. I haven't started my wall paper removal project yet, but I will. Deb
What is horechow??? Is it something great Im missing out on? Oh please tell me I cant stand it... The hogs are razorbacks...sorry, smile!
Great project Bella! I'm starting to work on my fall projects. I'll have them up in a couple of days. Great tutorial!
Brandee :-)
Bella - you are totally out of control with the craft cuteness factor. I can't get over it. My mouth was hanging open...seriously, it was. I can't believe that those ugly things I pass up ALL the time can look like that. And I already have at least 50 votive holders that I save for that "special" occassion.
LOVE IT!
very cute! By the way, Kirkland's has Horchow-ish stuff from time to time :)
i love how the divided tray turned out! this is the kind of project I need to make for my mom.
That is one great project! Wow did you have an eye when you picked that up at the garage sale!
Good luck with the wallpaper!
I am going to have to check out this catalog you speak of...hmmmm.

That turned out so great, Bella! Now I'm on the hunt for an ugly wood divider! I love the paper you chose for it!
The trays turned out wonderfully! I am going to start looking at Goodwill & yard sales for ugly pieces!
So I see you are continuing with your kitchen journey! I can't wait to see what you decide to do.

Wallpaper, yeah, I've stripped some of that down in a fit of decorative frenzy before.. along with faux wood paneling. Imagine my husband's surprise to come home and see a pile of paneling outside the backdoor one day? *giggles* A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, eh Bella? *smiles*

Marlene from Cambria
Boy when you jump in you totally jump into something don't you? Can't wait to see what the kitchen looks like without the wallpaper. I hate wallpaper, but it seems to be what all the builders like. Taking it down is so not fun, so I am not envying you right now, but I know that kitchen is going to look amazing when its done.
By the way, your little creating is super cute. Who would of though of using that plaque as a base for the candy dishes. Nice job on that one.
I love those transformations!
And yes, I would totally start an unplanned kitchen rip-down-the-wallpaper-a-thon. Gotta do it when the urge strikes.
Good luck!
I love your projects! You are so creative.
Bella oh my gosh I love what you did to those old pictures. They are the cutest.I will be on the look for something to make some out of. Cute Cute Cute. Thanks for sharing.
Have a Great day.
